Ric Rac comes in many sizes, from small size called baby ric rac to jumbo ric rac, different waves for different ideas.

Mini Ric Rac: 3/16" (5 mm), 1/4" (6mm) & 5/16" (8mm).

Medium: 3/8" (9mm), 1/2" (12mm) & 9/16" (14mm).

Large: 5/8" (16mm), 3/4" (19mm) & 7/8" (22mm).

Jumbo: 1-1/8" (28mm), 1-3/8" (34mm) & 1-1/2" (38mm).

How to Use Ric Rac

Ric Rac can be applied in several creative ways — it’s one of the most versatile trims in the sewing world.

1. Applied Flat

Sew it down the center using a straight stitch, zigzag, or decorative stitch.
Use contrasting thread for a pop or invisible thread for a clean finish.

2. Inserted in Seams

Add it between two fabrics — the peaks peek out, creating a fun border between seams. It’s perfect for garments, cushions, and quilts.

3. Along Edges

Pin it along hems, collars, sleeves, or table linens. You can even layer it beneath a folded hem or facing for subtle, scalloped edges.

4. Creative Techniques

• Weave two colors for a custom braid.

• Stack smaller over larger Ric Rac for a dimensional twist.

• Shape it with steam to curve around necklines or rounded seams.

• Use fabric glue or fusible thread for quick, no-pin applications.
